FAQ

Language Resource Center Inc. (LRC) is one of the largest interpretation and translation services providers in the country.

Frequently asked question

Interpreting is the conversion of speech (spoken language) into a different language. Translation is the conversion of text (written language) from one language into another.

For a sign language interpretation, it is the conversion of a spoken language into Sign Language.

Simultaneous interpretation is “continuous flow” whereas consecutive interpretation has a “stop and go” rhythm.

Simultaneous interpretation is real-time interpreting. Speakers talk as they normally would, without pause, as the interpreter listens to one language and speaks in another, simultaneously, the two voices speaking at once.

Consecutive interpretation occurs after each passage of speech and requires pauses between passages for the interpretation to be spoken. First, the interpreter listens to the entire original phrase or passage, and then they interpret it into the desired language.

Our interpreters normally use consecutive mode of interpretation for the interpretation in health and human service. However, our Simultaneous Interpreters are available for group meetings, seminars or conferences. We also provide remote interpreting (Telephone & Video) services.

LRC only works with qualified interpreters. All of our language experts are carefully assessed in terms of evaluation of proficiency, interpretation skills, technical skills, understanding of the ethics and practices of interpreting, and other required skills.

Many interpreters are available for emergencies or last minute appointments. However, we guarantee the availability of interpreters if the request comes to us in advance.

LRC can provide a telephone interpreter 24/7 for any kind of emergency situations. You will be connected with a live interpreter in less than a minute. Contact us now at (877) 960-0814 to speak to a live representative who will be able to assist you.

In emergency situations, some of our on-site interpreters can arrive at the location in less than 15 minutes of the requested time. However, we guarantee the interpreter’s arrival within 60 minutes of the request for many languages.

First, locate the geographical region (or country of origin) of the consumer. Then check the languages spoken in that country with the help of our Languages by Countries. If you still have a problem, use our Language Identifier Tool to identify the language of the client in face-to-face interaction.

Language Resource Center respects the privacy of protected health information and understands the importance of keeping this information confidential and secure. Your confidentiality is guaranteed. For medical appointments, we follow the requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Protection Act (HIPPA).

We offer translation & Interpretation services for over 190 different languages and dialects. Click here to see the list of all languages/dialects we serve.

Before the patient/client arrives:
Discuss the reasons for this particular interview. The interpreter can do a better job if they have an idea of the overall aim of the session.

Talk to the interpreter about any cultural or religious issues that may arise or be of importance.

We have live representatives standing by 24-hours a day during the week to answer your phone call.

Our translators are professionals with years of experience in the translation industry. They’re educated linguists who have either studied to become a translator/interpreter or have the relative education and the experience combination to be considered a highly qualified professional.

We carefully assess our translators in terms of evaluation of proficiency, translation skills, technical skills, understanding of the ethics and practices of interpreting, and other required skills.

Our translators are located around the world, but the vast majority is located in the US. We work closely with our translators to ensure the high quality of the work you receive.

The translations are done by professional translators and in the meantime, all our translations are proofed and quality checked by a QC team before delivery.

The first thing you should do is contact our office and let us know exactly what you did not like about the service. We’ll work with you to correct the situation and make you a long-term business client.

The majority of our translators are freelancers that have received certification in their particular language of specialization, so you can feel confident you’ll receive quality.

Machine translation refers to automated translation performed with a software program without the assistance of a human translator.

No. We only employ human translation. A machine can not translate material contextually, it takes the words and changes them to the literal translation, so to a native reader, sentences become undecipherable. Some less scrupulous services employ machine translation and then have an editor recheck the work which doesn’t do much for the translated materials reliability and consistency.

Definitely, we thrive on being able to help you with any project and any deadline. Try by calling us any time.

We translate and interpret in over 190 languages and dialects, plus American Sign Language.

If you want your translated document to be professional, accurate and consistent you will not get it free on the Internet. Machine translation that you get on the internet is not always accurate.

We can deliver it in a variety of formats. Most clients prefer to receive a Word document attached by email. However, other forms of delivery are fax, PDF, Illustrator, and other desktop publishing programs.

Our translation rates are based on your document’s word count as well as the type of translation service needed. Rates may vary if your document is a business letter versus a legal document. A legal translation of a real estate purchase requires more specialized knowledge than a translation for a wedding speech.

It depends on the length of your document as well as the type of translation. In our case, our average translation takes about 3 days with an average of about 1000-2000 words per day. We also offer a rush service for your translated documents if you’re pressed for time in receiving them. There may be additional charges applicable for rush services.

Yes we can. Many official documents need to be certified and notarized by a qualified, licensed, notary public provided we are in possession of original documents.

We accept cash, credit card, PayPal, and wire transfers.
